The Thousand-Handed Angel is a folk-horror story about ritual sacrifice, inherited guilt, and the imprisonment of the soul. Soon afterward, he witnesses the discovery of a handless woman's body in the woods. His parents flee with him that night, allowing him to grow up safely outside the village, but the debt Saint Mary's carries is not so easily escaped. Years later, Michael is haunted by a woman in white who enters his dreams. She first calls to him from a blank white world, then disguises herself as the perfect young woman, Anna, and tricks him into giving her his true name, birth date, address, and family information. With those details, she gains the power to reach and bind him. To break the curse, Michael returns to Saint Mary's, only to discover that the village has long been sustained by a brutal covenant: real human hands are offered to the Angel of the Holy Hands, and every family owes a share of the blood debt. As Michael searches for the truth, Anna becomes both his temptation and his protector. She is tied to Emily, the pregnant outsider murdered by the villagers, to the unborn child who died with her, and to the supernatural power of the thousand-handed angel. Anna has taken Michael's punishment upon herself, repeatedly offering her own hands in his place, but her protection comes with a terrible price. She uses his loneliness, sympathy, desire, and doubt to pull him back into the village and into her curse. In the end, Michael is forced into a ghost marriage with Anna, his body and soul locked forever inside Saint Mary's. The novel turns beauty, love, and devotion into instruments of horror, showing how a village's buried sin can become an eternal prison.
